5 Wellness Tips to Enjoy This Summer
Summer is in full-swing and we all want to make the most of it while it lasts. This is a great time of year to slow down to reflect, make some changes and live more in the moment. Try these health and wellness tips to feel better, stay healthy and enjoy the season.
Choose safe, eco-friendly skin products.
Sunscreen and bug spray are essential during the summer but the products you choose to use can make a big difference. It can be confusing to wade through ingredient lists looking for toxic ingredients so keep it simple and look for brands you’ve come to trust. There are also many natural insect repellent alternatives available that will keep bugs away without harming the environment.
Infuse your water with fruit, edible flowers and herbs.
Naturally flavoring water yourself is a great way to get more vitamins and minerals in your diet without added sugar or calories. Try watermelon and mint, cucumber and basil or look online for countless other suggestions. It’s especially important to stay hydrated during the summer so drink up!
Get some Vitamin D.
The easiest and most efficient way to get this essential nutrient is to absorb it from the sun, which means that many of us don’t get enough throughout the year. Take advantage of the warm weather to get more Vitamin D to enhance your mood and give you more energy. A commitment to spending time outside will also keep you active and help you enjoy the season.
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
We all know plant-based foods are good for us so why not take advantage of fresh, seasonal produce to eat more of them? Look for local and organic options, which contain better nutrition, no pesticides and are good for the environment. Explore your local farmer’s market for what looks best or pick up some fruits and vegetables you’re not familiar with to see what you can make of them.
Make time for tranquil moments.
Have you felt like the summer seems to fly by too quickly? Because there’s so much we want to see and do, an otherwise relaxing summer can become hectic. Savor the season by scheduling at least a few minutes each day to simply sit outside and take in the sights, sounds and smells of summer. You’ll find yourself living in the moment and getting the most out of everything this time of year has to offer.
